SHANGHAI Metro line drivers were ordered to stop trains and evacuate passengers if the wind is Str0ng enough to threaten the safe operation, eastday.com reported today.
Metro line operator has been placed on full alert for the upcoming Typhoon Wipha, which is expected to hit the city this afternoon, urging drivers to pay attention to the wind force and direction and to prevent things from being blown into the tracks, the report said.
Drivers should slow or stop trains if the wind exceeds 75 kilometers per hour and is able to shake the trains, the report said.
Shanghai's top and second-level hospitals have prepared first-aid equipment and drugs for the typhoon, the report said.
The city's health official said yesterday that pedestrians are easily hit by falling things when the typhoon comes, and mass water may generate infectious disease, which is a big challenge for local hospitals, the report said.

Wipha was last night downgraded from a super to a severe typhoon and landed in Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province at 2:30am today packing winds of 45 meter per second.
It is expected to reach Shanghai this afternoon through Hangzhou Bay and bring Str0ng wind and torrential rains to the city, the report said.
The rainfall may reach up to 250 millimeters, the report said.
